What an incredible summer! God has blessed us in so many ways in the past few months. We’re expanding in Liberia, we’re sending backpacks to orphans from students and families in the U.S., 250 kids are going to have a youth conference experience like they’ve never dreamed, and 500 kids are sleeping in beds that were given to them by hundreds of God’s Kids supporters. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than here serving God through God’s Kids.

I’ve just returned from a wonderful trip to Liberia and Thailand. We were able to get a lot of work done to continue growing in Liberia and to help more children. In Thailand, I visited several orphanages in anticipation of our 2007 goal to expand in this country. I’m excited about what this will look like as we partner with more orphanages in the coming months.

None of this would be possible without the support of all those Christians whose hearts have been moved to join us in our mission to Give Orphans Hope.

500 Children Sleep Safer for the First Time

With the help of Christian radio listeners from around the country, God’s Kids was able to purchase 250 bunk beds for 500 Liberian children. Most kids in Liberia have become accustomed to sleeping in conditions that we can’t imagine – on the ground or on wooden pallets.

But 500 orphans are now sleeping in warm beds with mattresses, sheets, and pillows thanks to the response of Christ followers in places like San Diego, Louisville, and Omaha. We’re incredibly happy with the success of the Bunk Bed Project. But we’re even more excited about the response we received from Christians around the country who dedicated their resources and prayers to help give these children a safe place to sleep.

God’s Kids Expands in Liberia

With the help of Christians who’ve dedicated their gifts to helping children, God’s Kids has added six more orphanages to the God’s Kids Network this month! Hundreds of people have become involved with the God’s Kids mission through prayer and giving which has allowed us to expand in Liberia! We’re now helping eleven orphanages in this impoverished African country provide for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of orphaned children.

John Kpewoan, the God’s Kids National Director of Liberia, has chosen these four orphanages because of their dedication to giving high quality care to children. John operates one of the best orphanages in Liberia and is working to help other orphanages in the country raise their level of care to meet God’s Kids standards.

We praise God for giving us the opportunity to care for more children. We know that it would not be possible without the Lord moving in the hearts of so many Christians here in America who have believed in our mission to Give Orphans Hope, and have dedicated their gifts and prayers to caring for hurting children.

What a Christmas It Will Be!

2,500 children will receive a back pack filled with school supplies, toys, and a new testament at the annual Christmas Joy Celebration in Liberia! John Kpewoan, our National Director in Liberia, in partnership with the Restoration of Educational Advancement Program (REAP), has organized a spectacular Christmas celebration for nearly 3,000 orphans in December.

God’s Kids has partnered with Global Operations and Development to ship the backpacks to Monrovia for the children at this celebration. Schools, churches, and families, have contributed to filling the packs with supplies and a special note for a Liberian boy or girl. The Love Packs for Liberia Project has been an incredible opportunity to reach out to our Christian community here in the U.S. and invite them to join God’s Kids in loving God’s children in Liberia. It will be awesome to see the faces of the children as they receive and open their own backpack. It’s going to be an amazing Christmas!
