I agree with you that people have the right to educate their children according to their culture. What you have to understand about the Karen people however, is that their traditional culture includes a Judeo-Christian story. For many of them (about 30%), Christianity is not outside of their culture. It is their culture. It's what they have chosen for themselves, and may be part of the reason that the military junta has persecuted them for so long.
It was very interesting to talk with them while I was there. Their folk tales include stories of a valuable book, presumably the Torah, that was stolen and would be returned to them someday. They consider the arrival of the first Christian missionaries who came with the bible to be the fulfillment of that legend. Many of the Karen people even consider themselves to be one of the lost tribes of Israel.
So while your argument is appreciated, the good news of the gospel is a welcome message to the Karen people in Burma just as it is to the rest of us.
