Planned Giving Options

Planned Giving Options
Preparing for the future can be a complicated process. Years ago, charitable giving was as simple as writing a check. But today there are a number of planned giving options that offer significant benefits both for you and the organizations you support. Understanding your options is especially critical when planning your estate.

Support God's Kids while fulfilling your own personal and financial objectives

We would love to help you think through these options and answer any questions you have.  For more information, please contact us or call (951) 681-0025. You may also submit a request for additional information.

Gift Annuities
A gift annuity is a unique financial agreement in which you can make a donation of cash or appreciated assets in exchange for an assured lifetime income. You will receive an attractive annuity rate (ranging from 5.3% to 11.3%, depending upon your age at the time your agreement is established) and an immediate income tax deduction.  Annuity rates are especially attractive for those over age 60.  If you're currently investing in CDs, you may receive more income with a gift annuity.  Our staff would be glad to put together a personalized illustration for you.

Wills & Bequests
A will ensures that your wishes for the resources you leave behind are known and accomplished.  When you include God's Kids in your will, your gift is entirely tax-free, reducing the estate taxes your heirs will pay.

Living Trusts
There are times that a simple will is not enough. A revocable living trust provides flexibility and privacy, and can be created to achieve your unique planning goals.  A living trust also allows your heirs to avoid the hassles of probate and to distribute your assets quickly.

Appreciated Assets
Have you considered giving appreciated assets to charity?  Charitable gifts of real estate or publicly traded securities that you have owned for more than one year can be an excellent alternative to a cash gift, allowing you to avoid capital gains tax and take a charitable income tax deduction.

IRAs and Taxes
IRA taxes are often overlooked in the estate planning process.  Understanding the tax implications of your IRA today can go a long way toward reducing your tax obligations at death.   Rather than leaving your heirs with a tax burden, charitable gifts from your IRA will be tax free and reduce the total income tax due on your estate.

Read the ECFA article titled, "Taking Advantage of IRA Rollover Opportunities."

Donor Advised Fund
The God's Kids Donor Advised Fund is a convenient, cost-effective way to support orphan care while reaching your own tax and estate planning goals. You can establish a donor advised fund for an initial irrevocable contribution of $10,000. Additional contributions of $1,000 or more can be made at any time.  A donor advised fund can be especially helpful if you want to donate a significant amount of money before the end of the year, but need more time to consider where you would like that money to go.

Charitable Trusts
Charitable trusts can be structured to provide a long-term gift to charity while giving your family income for life or a period of years (deemed a Charitable Remainder Unitrust).  They can also be set up to provide income to charity for a period of time, and then to return the remaining value of the trust to your family (a Charitable Income Lead Trust).  Both options have benefits, depending on the needs of your family and your financial situation.

Life Insurance
Many families purchase life insurance policies for specific purposes when they are younger.  As your life circumstances change, you may find you no longer need the policy.  In that case, giving the policy to God's Kids may be a good planning option, allowing you to take a charitable deduction equal to the cash value of the policy (or the replacement cost if the policy is paid up).  God's Kids  would have the option to cash in the policy to fund current ministry needs, or to hold on to it to receive the future death benefit.

We would love to help you figure out what works best for you and your family.  For more information, please contact us or  call (951) 681-0025
