FAQ's

How will God’s Kids help orphanages give long term care to children?
The long term success of God’s Kids orphans is built on a foundation of agriculture and education.  Each orphanage works with our International Director of Agriculture to implement a strategy that provides nutritious food for the children and a modest income to the orphanage.  This strategy creates a system of partial self-sustainability within the orphanage.  God’s Kids orphans also receive a strong education throughout their time at the orphanage, and a chance for additional education as a post-orphanage exit strategy to help them become productive members of their culture, and to be Kingdom builders for Christ.

When was God's Kids founded?
God's Kids was founded in 2002 by Dion Quinn as a response to the needs of orphans worldwide.  God called Dion to play an active role in developing orphanages that provide high quality care to orphaned and abandoned children.

Why are Christians called to care for orphans?
God calls us to look after those who are vulnerable and defenseless.  All children are loved by and belong to God.  As Christ followers, it is our responsibility to care for children without a mother or father.  In the New Testament, God says that true religion is “to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” (James 1:27).  The plight of the orphan is spoken of many times in the bible and it is our duty to defend the rights of these vulnerable children.

In what parts of the world is God’s Kids working?
God’s Kids is focusing much of its efforts in Liberia at this time to develop a broad system of orphanages that will set the standard for orphanage care.  Our strategy in Liberia will become the model that will soon be taken to other developing countries.  In addition to Liberia, God’s Kids is currently supporting orphanages in Mexico, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, and the Philippines.

Why is God’s Kids focused on children in Liberia?
Liberia is seeing its first years of relative peace and hopefulness after 25 years of civil war and government corruption.  But the violence of the last two decades has left thousands of children homeless and without parents to care for them.  God’s Kids has made powerful and influential allies in Liberia.  These allies have empowered us to lift up the orphanages that are home to displaced children, and shape them into places that will cultivate the leaders of Liberia’s future.  We are excited to transfer our success in Liberia to other nations whose children are in desperate need.

How does God’s Kids decide which orphanages to partner with?
A team of God’s Kids staff travels to target countries visiting several orphanages and evaluating their ability and potential to provide the highest level of care to orphaned children.  God’s Kids looks for strong leaders at the orphanages who model Christian behavior and values, and who are passionate about giving children hope and a future through good nutrition, education, and a love for Jesus Christ.

Does God’s Kids help with adoptions?
Our mission is to partner with orphanages to provide the best possible care for orphaned children.  We are not an adoption agency, and we do not have any affiliations with adoption agencies.

How does God’s Kids raise support?
God’s Kids partners with individuals and organizations who want to play a significant role in the fight to give orphans a chance to live healthy, hopeful lives.  Support for our projects comes from the generosity of donors and the philanthropy of grant-making foundations.

Does God’s Kids help orphaned children in the U.S.?
There are needs all around us, and we all know that there are children in our own country who need our help.  But God’s Kids feels called to reach into the hardest places in our world to help orphans who are without advocates, without champions.  The United States is fortunate to have systems of accountability in place to monitor the organizations caring for children.  But much of the world is without this level of accountability, and we are called to be the voice for children who cannot speak for themselves.
